Dowland Stung

I'm probably the last person in the world to discover that Sting, the former lead singer of the '80s pop band The Police, released an album of John Dowland songs accompanied by lute (some of them, including "Come Again", are rendered chorally by overdubbing his voice). Has anyone listened to it? I've only heard the snippets on the iTunes store. I'm trying to decide whether to be annoyed at the sound of his flat throaty voice on Dowland, or thrilled that he's spending some of his fame on art music rather than looking for another teen hit.

Be annoyed...I've listened to the CD; it's not great.

Why do you put yourself up as some God; i.e. holier than thou attitude. Do you think that Dowland has always been performed by the greatest. I think it is great that someone of his statute is exploring different music. I think that he could draw other people into exploring different music. Whether or not it is great is up to the listener.
