I've started conducting the Birmingham Concert Chorale--a group that does the Messiah every year. Most of them know all the choruses and have performed each chorus under a number of different conductors.
I woke up the other night imagining that everyone had forgotten how to sing melismas and that it was up to me to teach them in the next rehearsal. Ever had dreams like that?
