Another Memory: McElheran and Unselfishness

Still remembering, from Martin Banner:
Looking at the posting on the Choralnet site, I just remembered something. When I was an undergrad at Crane, Brock had us use his conducting book as the text for his conducting class. Back then, the book jacket was a blueish grey color. I also remembered that Brock was not one to profit personally at the expense of his students. Since he required all of us to purchase his conducting book, he reimbursed each of his conducting students the amount of royalties paid him by his publisher for each copy!
Pretty interesting, considering many university professors self-publish their own book these days specifically for their students to purchase the text and line their pockets.
