How can I get one of these?
You can hardly believe this software: it takes a polyphonic audio file and breaks it into editable notes -- then lets you change the volume, pitch, etc. of individual notes within the texture. In real time.

Here's a video of a live presentation which is actually more impressive, although it's an amateur video of a computer nerd talking, so you have to be patient. Even the singer's voice sounds natural after it's altered.
This new feature of Melodyne is scheduled to be available in Fall 2008 for US$399. For XP, Vista, and OSX.
