It was a great day in Louisville, KY for choral music.
What I really enjoyed:
1. University of Kentucky men's and women's choir. They were both stunning performances and the women's choir really were fabulous. Both performances incorporated dramatic elements that were great fun to watch and experience as an audience member. High marks to Lori Hetzel and Jeff Johnson for their outstanding and creative programming. Mississippi College was a joy to watch and Lassiter HS was very impressive.
2. Meeting Ron Staheli again and watching him work. A very nice man and compelling musician in front of a choir.
3. Meeting up with old friends. Choral directors are my favorite friends and the ACDA conventions are where I experience great joy.
4. Louisville is a great place for a convention. I wish all Southern Division conventions could be here.

Hi Philip,
Nice post. I was there and it was a great convention in many ways. You had to love a concert where a full-fledged melee broke out on stage (U of Kentucky Women)! What fun. We need more fights, maybe even choral cage matches?
A bit more serious observation- many great choirs, but one which totally blew me away was the Atlanta Sacred Chorale directed by Eric Nelson. I was pretty much speechless, I just kept saying "Wow" about them.
And... what a beautiful moment, Sandy Holland's Charlotte Children's Choir singing a Bob Chilcott treble unison/piano piece with truly exquisite tone and line. The pianist for this group was wonderfully sensitive throughout.
