A New Conductor for the Swedish Radio Choir: Peter Dijkstra
IFCM News tells us that Peter Dijkstra, former World Youth Choir singer and conductor of the 2007 summer session of the World Youth Choir, has been appointed as the new chief conductor of the Swedish Radio Choir as per 1 September of this year. Former conductors of the Radio Choir were Eric Ericson, Tonu Kaljuste and others.
Yes, he's as young as he looks. A little of his bio:
Peter Dijkstra, born in the Netherlands in 1978, began singing as a boy in the Roder Jongenskoor, singing most of the solo-parts until his voice changed. He was invited for many soloperformances, for example in operaproductions like Die Zauberflöte at The Netherlands Opera Foundation in Amsterdam. He studied choral conducting, orchestral conducting and voice at the conservatories of The Hague, Köln and Stockholm, and graduated summa cum laude with decoration. Furthermore he followed masterclasses with leading choral conductors like Tonu Kaljuste and Eric Ericsson.
More here about him.
