Monty Python's Eric Idle is writing a new oratorio, Not The Messiah, based on the movie Life of Brian. The oratorio was commissioned by the Toronto Symphony and will premiere in June.No information on whether there will be quotes from Handel's oratorio of (not the) same name, but I'd bet there will be.
"I promise it will be funnier than Handel, although probably not as good," Idle told film trade paper Variety.Composer John DuPrez (another knockoff name if I ever heard one), Idle's collaborator for the recent hit musical Spamalot, is also involved.
